A few days ago I read an article about Punto Informatico announced that the dimming of the famous website http://thepiratebay.org by the main Italian provider. The fact dates back to August 10 last year and has sparked the usual ridda of flame on numerous forums and blogs, since around the practice of file sharing has long formed a huge cloud of views ranging from strong demand freedom to make circle anything on the Internet to understandable concern about this type of behavior receiving material damage and / or morals.

This is followed by - among others - that that involved the less famous Colombo-bt, for which the Guardia di Finanza had issued few days before a press release in which, in addition to reconstructing the methods of investigation, as was explained and why it has come to the allegation of three people for breach of copyright.

Today, at a distance of a few days are finished again by the parties of "Pirate Bay", or rather his substitute http://labaia.org, set up precisely to stem the blockade of Italian ISP. I note in passing that even http://www.labaia.org has suffered within hours lo same fate. Shame that has been obscured only subhost www.labaia.org and not the entire domain ... thus omitting the www is still raggiungibilissimo ...! Apart from this, I would like to express my disappointment at the post just appeared on Pirate Bay, a kind of delirious appeal promoted on the home page and expressly addressed to the Italian people:

Fascist state censors Pirate Bay

We're quite used to fascist countries not allowing freedom of speech. A lot of smaller nations that have Dictators decide to block our site since we can help spread information that could be harmful to the Dictators.

This time it's Italy. They suffer from a really bad background as one of the IFPIs was formed in Italy during the fascist years and now they have a fascist leader in the country, Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi is also the most powerful person in Italian media owning a lot of companies that compete with The Pirate Bay and he would like to stay that way - so one of his lackeys, Giancarlo Mancusi, ordered a shutdown of our domain name and IP in Australia to make it hard to not support Berlusconis empire.

We have previously had fights in Australia, recently with our successful art installation where we had to storm Fortress in order to get our art done. And as usual, we won. We will also win this time.

We have already changed IP for the website - that makes it work for half the ISPs again. And we want you all to inform your italian friends to switch their DNS to OpenDNS so they can bypass their ISPs filters. This will also let them bypass the other filters installed by the Italian government, as a bonus. And for the meanwhile - http://labaia.org works (The Bay The Bay means in Italian).

And please, everybody should also contact their ISP and tell them that this is not OK and that the ISPs should appeal. We do not want a censored Internet! And the war starts here ...

Now, I am not for closing the bittorrent, at least until it can maintain fold not say the law but to a certain basic ethical and not fall - as often happens, unfortunately - in the hands of real organizations dedicated malavitose to cracking or worse yet disclosure of child pornography. But people, there is a limit to everything: the message of children Pirate Bay offends an entire people and not about making sure the intelligence of those who wrote. Our country is far from perfect and some degree of denial of freedom you experience it every day, but only for physiological reasons and not because we are actually established a dictatorship. Confusing a measure of the Guardia di Finanza (undoubtedly motivated by malicious behavior) with the establishment of a dictatorship is really too much. Confuse Silvio Berlusconi with Benito Mussolini was equally blunt, Caspar!

I invite anyone to share the contents of the release of Pirate Bay to seriously reflect on the meaning of the word "Fascism", perhaps dusted the old history book that - for many reasons - never open a school.
